So you obviously have to top it up with wax. So this is just saving the wick. Sorry if I’m being stupid but I just can’t really see what the benefit is? If you have wax, you’re probably gonna have a wick. If you specifically take wax and mess on with it to keep this lit, isn’t it just easier to light another candle? Again, apologies if I’ve missed something here.

Definitely not infinite. It would consume wax and it may be refilled after, but even the metal string would deteriorate with time.

Flame will die due to too much heat loss to the metal. We never see it actually burning the candle half way. That’s why you can’t buy this anywhere.

You can try using a Zippo lighter wick. But I've also seen people use a cotton shoelace wrapped in wire to achieve the same result.
