the reasons why the copies are more successful is very simple

1. they are downloaded by kids
2. its free

that's all, like seriously if mojang make pocket edition free it will be very successful, but it's too late now

South East Asian here, we used to pirate Minecraft PE everytime, one of us would have the latest version (pirated ofc) and would pass the apk around so everyone could play.
The dude with the most powerful phone would always be the host.

When I was younger I wasnt allowed to buy games, so I would scroll through the play store and look for the best Minecraft clone and I found one that would be removed from the play store and re-uploaded multiple times with different names. It wasnt "Lokicraft" or "Craftsman" it would be random stuff like "Lovecraft" was one of the names it used. I might still have one of those clones on an old tablet still to this day

To be fair, I highly doubt the whole "these apps are more popular than real minecraft" part. Not only are downloads easy to spoof (the play store doesn't check to see if they've actually opened the app, just downloaded it) but reviews are easy to fake as well. I've seen apps with like hundreds of thousands of downloads that are only a couple months old and only have like 5 players online.

Real reason: People cant afford the official Minecraft because they're broke, or their parents wont let them buy the game.

I remember years ago around 2016 that i installed a minecraft clone which was just one of those cheap minecraft clones, but out of nowhere the game changed into fully original minecraft, no texture packs, no ads, only original textures. I remember playing that for some time until i got the real Minecraft, and suprisingly, i had all my worlds from the clone app. I remember some time later i tried to play it again, but the game was changed back to normal, very shady..

I'm glad Crafting and Building existed, even if it was piracy or whatever, since I never got the chance to play Minecraft as a kid so being able to play a game that I had extensive knowledge and dedication to was thrilling. I was able to get my first Minecraft game when I turned 17, but still thankful that app existed lol

I used to believe the reason that Mojang and Microsoft allowed these stolen versions of Minecraft to exist was because they used older versions of the game so they wouldn't care much about taking them down.
It would appear as if I am incorrect in thinking that. You can just play Minecraft 1.17 for free for the low low price of endless AI girlfriend ads.

Crafting and Building got updated recently where you can watch a add to get stolen marketplace worlds and I was able to play og-network on it as well as the hive but for ppl who can't afford mc like me I'm very glad these are available

I find it hilarious that "Lokicraft" is named after the Norse trickster god Loki.
