Omgosh, I loved this interview! I am a middle school teacher and my kids love the movie...I just finished the first book and I am flabbergasted by the differences between the movie and the book--effective decisions as well! I have not read the other books and Jack mentions he takes parts from them, but I would love to know how he decided to so inherently and drastically change the movie adaptation. Was it due to the rigors of a different art form or just a desire for a transmutation of plot? Sherlock Holmes is kinder, the mother is closer, Enola and Tewksbury are older, the entire transplanting into suffragism, voting, and internecine conflict...
