Elena Dobrovolskaya is a Russian-born artist living in New York, USA. She started to paint in Moscow in 2010 after taking private lessons with the renowned artist Oleg Leonov, a Russian Academy of Fine Arts member. In 2012 Elena moved to the US and continued to study oil painting with the famous American portraitist Wendy Caporale. Elena started to exhibit in 2017 and has since exhibited broadly in the United States and Europe (New York, London, Paris, Vienna, Milan, Rome, Venice, Florence, and Lisbon). In particular, she exhibited at Monaco Yacht Show (2019); Shapero Modern Gallery (London (2019), Salon Art Shopping (Paris, 2019); Body Language Exhibition (Venice, 2020); ArtEXpo New York, the biggest art fair in the US, several times; Florence Biennale XIIIth edition (2021); Focus Art Fair at the Saatchi gallery (London, 2023). Now Elena’s paintings “Finding Myself” and “Becoming a Woman” are part of the “Personal Structures” exhibition at Palazzo Bembo in Venice during the Venice Biennale 2024. Elena had also a solo portrait exhibition “Look into My Eyes” in Artifact Gallery, New York, 2021.
Elena Dobrovolskaya’s art appeared in French, Italian, and British magazines, most notably House&Garden, GQ, Aesthetica, and London Life; it was published in the art catalog “50 Artists to Invest in” in Italy in 2020, “Trends in Art: Insights for Collectors” in UK in 2021, “Jaarboek Kunstenaars 23” in Holland and “Important World Artists” Volume V in the US in 2022.
She was awarded the International Prize Velazquez (art critic’s award; April 2019); International Prize Artist of the Year (Mantova Art Expo, 2019); and International Prize Giotto (for stylistic value, 2019). An art critic Salvatore Russo wrote: ”Elena Dobrovolskaya’s painting is characterized by her high technical ability. A painting that does not go in search of pictorial hyperrealism seeks the emotion that her works want to express instead”.
