Dude cork is just the best ever. If you don't mind making a mess, buy the cheap cork from the dollar store, lay a heavy duty razor blade flat against it and drag it across the cork, flaking it apart. (Save the shavings)
It will bring out a more natural and varied texture.

Also cork is awesome for making ruined modern buildings

In previous videos you have shown smearing/smudging as a way to draw maps. I was having difficulty with my markers/mats as it was just wiping them away instead of smudging.
Are you using a different type of marker/mat that makes that easier?
