How to Bake Ambient Occlusion in Unreal Engine 5

Показать описание
This video covers baking Ambient Occlusion inside of Unreal Engine 5. In UE5, you are now able to bake textures directly inside of UE5 without the need for another program. This video goes over baking ambient occlusion from a model after UV unwrapping it and how to get an AO map.

Hope you found this helpful and let me know down below if you have any questions or issues!

This is great! I didnt know that you could bake texture maps in-engine. Thanks for the pro tip! This will make my Nanite workflow much easier.

A really helpful piece of knowledge, especially for making convincing vehicle interiors.

Definitely helps, most of the time the lightmaps must be on UV1, because UV0 is for color texture. UV0 is already unwrapped correctly for texturing and auto-uvs would ruin it. Its also tedious work when you have hundreds of objects, so its recommended to do it only for specific / problematic meshes.
I highly recommend to do GPU lightmass baking.

It's nice to have you go over small details but the first half of the video is irrelevant to most people who already have proper UVs, it could have been a small extra at the end, but not at the start of a tutorial on something different.

That's so helpful, thank you so much! This is so great for Lumen cases. Well, but how about tiled UV objects? Like the floor underneath, or I think should get another UV channel for the entire object to bake the AO, is that possible.

good vid, but i thought with lumen you dont need to use AO maps ?

Whoaaa...baking in UE5 now? I fully expect 'How to model and sculpt in Unreal Engine 6' in a few years :p. Is the bake comparable to Marmoset at all?

In UE5.1, the AO textures does not work in materials, and the reason for the test not responding is that the project setting did not turn off allow static light.
