On 28 November 2023, the Commission is organising the International Conference on a Global Alliance to Counter Migrant Smuggling with key partner countries in Brussels (CHARL building). The objective is to launch a Global Alliance to Counter Migrant Smuggling, building on reinforced cooperation between key partners. The Commission will present new legislation on countering migrant smuggling and seek enhanced commitment to jointly counter migrant smuggling with international partners. The Conference will be opened by President von der Leyen, with three panels at Ministerial level. The key expected output of the conference will be the creation of the Global Alliance to Counter Migrant Smuggling and the Call to Action.
