Honestly I got the 14 plus on a carrier deal and the battery is super good never used the pro max so idk what that battery is awesome I’m a fire fighter I’ve literally been able to stop bringing a charger on a 24. I like to see the real world comparison but speaking as a user the battery life is killer on my plus and I still think it’s 100% worth saving the 200$ unless you absolutely need or want the features of the pro max

That's useful! Because yes, real life testing is what we use, we don't stay 10h straight with our phone in our hands swiping. There's standby, dark rooms, bright outdoors, commuting, background synchronizations, cell towers to connect to, and yes, all of these matter.

I have got over 9hr screen time with more than 25% remaining on 14 plus.. Bluetooth always on and connected to Apple Watch. Mobile Data and WiFi always on. Dark mode with Auto brightness on. This is during weekend. And during weekdays I get 4hrs of screen time with 60% battery remaining and mobile data is used for browsing. 14 plus is a battery king..

This was an awesome way to do a battery comparison. I haven’t had any issues with battery life on my 14 pro max I still don’t get what the deal is with that. I think there’s a bug somewhere in iOS 16 that’s only affecting some users. I setup my phone fresh and didn’t use a back up and I average 9-12 hrs of SOT that’s throughout the entire day and using LTE and Wi-Fi.

What I noticed through your video for sure is that 14 Pro always have less bars of cellular signal than a regular 14 Plus. If this is the cost of 1 hour less work time for 14 Plus, I think it is great. Better signal strength on 14 Plus looks to me an odd choice by Apple.

Great battery test! However just a small correction, all iPhone 14 models this year use the X65 modem, it was also pointed out by Ifixit during their iPhone 14 (non pro) teardown

Great test! I don’t really pay attention to claims and benchmarks anymore as they’re all skewed to show what the company wants you to know, whether it’s apple, Samsung, google, etc. I really don’t consider this a failure for the 14 plus though are we really going to sit there and complain that the pro max still had 5% battery left when the plus died? The phone lasted practically the same amount in real world application and it’s a few hundred dollars cheaper
