Apparently it IS possible to spot the fake minecraft example just from looking at it. Can you identify it? Also, changing the log file would also change the file metadata, which would be obvious. Unless you know how to change the metadata back to what it should have been (I don't personally know how to do this).

I do think the Zelda audio has a discrepancy, but it's slight. Both examples have an audio cut at the exact time the warp happens, so the 'gap' in audio is not an indication of splicing. The audio discrepancy has more to do with the pitch of music before and after warp.

There's one telltale sign that it's a fake speedrun, if they're eating pizza and drinking coca cola

The main thing I learned about spotting fake runs is that without extreme knowledge of the game in question, there's almost no way of telling which run is legit and which run isn't. Unless there are big continuity errors, such as audio slicing or weird menuing

For the 1st example, you can also hear an audio clip when going from one room to the next ( usually happens when there is no declicking/ crossfading applied )

Minecraft example 2 was weird for me because you immediately turned left towards a village, skipped the food, and ran straight to a blacksmith as if you knew exactly where it was

Karl I really have to tell you this, I have never played any of the games I watch speedruns of nor do I much understand about them but you make such great videos in explaining stuff that I really get a good idea what's going on and can follow clearly. Also you have a great voice on top of it :)

Oh, I think I remember when the Drem scandal was unfolding, and people were commenting "oh, at first I thought you said that Dream cheated. Such a relief. I'm glad it was some other guy, and that Dream isn't a cheater!"

If only they knew.
