A mother shares her story of losing her 19-year-old daughter to illegally manufactured fentanyl. Illicit fentanyl is a dangerous, life-threatening drug frequently found in other illicit drugs and results in the death of 200 people per day in the US. This is just one of those stories and delivers an urgent warning to avoid all illicit drugs.

Naloxone, the active ingredient in 4mg Narcan and higher dose 8mg Kloxxado, along with many generic versions, can reverse an opioid overdose if administered quickly enough. Some areas have Naloxone available for free. Google it.

She sounds a lot like my sisters. She was very gullible Her boyfriend gave her fentanyl for her migraine. At first she didn’t know it was fentanyl. She wasn’t a heavy user and thought she knew the difference between good and bad pills. She made it to 35. We lost her 3/1/24. Her name was Unique and that name fit her. I lost my dad and my uncle to overdose back in the day. Im very thankful my kids understand the dangers. I hope our family never has to experience this kind of loss again.

My son was in the hospital for days and his neurologist when he told us that there was no hope for my son because his brain was gone, the neurologist said that our society is failing all these kids. And then he cried with us.

The hardest part about having kids is even if you tell them and show them time and time again that you are here for them and it’s safe to talk about ANYTHING, they just don’t. It’s just heart breaking 💔. It’s hard.

The way the mother speaks about her daughter and her faith is beyond inspiring. I want to let you know from experience. I am in recovery from a 25 year addiction and alcoholism run that almost killed me. I have also buried a brother from a fentanyl overdose and a sister from addiction and its life style. I say all that to tell you that nothing you did or didn’t do was gonna make your daughter wanna change. A person suffering with addiction and mental health issues has to want to change. Love n respect to you and your family. Never stop sharing your story. I also want to share that this is what makes fentanyl so dangerous in the fact that these kids today are being taken out before they even have a chance to hit rock bottom! There is no doubt in my mind that if I would have been using drugs in the present day I don’t know if I would’ve had the chance to get clean! Even though I used a lot of fentanyl in my addiction. When I used it I knew when I was using it and I was careful, at least as careful as an addict could be. I still overdose on multiple occasions. My point being is that it wasn’t being put in to all these different drugs like it is today! I truly hope that this family can find some clarity and understanding in this tragedy! I know me and my family are searching for ours!

Her mother does a beautiful job of telling this story. They sound like a loving family. It seems like Jetaya was a wayward child, but they didn't give up on her.

The hospital took great steps to make sure she was truly gone. Most hospitals get the ball rolling when you say organ donation. I appreciate that they took their time and made the family comfortable. So sorry for your loss.
