In this video I will show you how to add more games to the AtGames Atari Flashback X. I go step by step to make the process as quick and easy as possible. Make sure you have a small Phillips screwdriver, a usb flash drive, and an OTG adapter (linked below). With the official firmware update you can add all your favorite Atari 2600 games to the AtGames Atari Flashback X!

As always, a great tutorial with enough information for complete setup and troubleshooting. But without the unnecessary stuff ruining other tutorials I try to watch. Excellent! Thanks!

It's 4 screws.... People are acting like you have to solder directly to the board to install the update. 😂

Great video and easy to follow tutorial.

I tested out the firmware update on my Atari Flashback X and my god it is amazing!! Because the games have to be in .a26 format instead of the usual .bin format on previous Atari Flashback systems, the games have a better chance of running properly when compared to older Atari Flashback consoles like the Atari Flashback 9. I can confirm that Starpath Supercharger games will work on the Atari Flashback X. I was able to play Dragonstomper on my Atari Flashback X. A game that does not work on my Atari Flashback 9.

Thanks Patton I been waiting for this great video. I tested a few bin files and they work also you still have to name them the same way you mentioned.

Many thanks for the video. Was about to rush a purchase on this but the lack of box art an nice ui for the ext drive would make adding hundreds of games a mess.

Thanks for the great tutorial! It has been a long time since I have played Atari 2600 games with an OG controller. I might have to pick one up now!

*FOR PEOPLE LIKE ME WHERE YOU GET AN ERROR WITH THE DRIVERS AND IT WON'T SEE THE ATARI (AND KEEP GETTING NO DEVICES FOUND) THAT COME WITH IT TRY THIS METHOD:*
Please use another Rockchip driver than the one they deliver with it! So first uninstall the one that you tried.
And download Rockusb_Driver_v3.7 (you can find it for free on google)
Than go to X64 folder --> win8 (if you have win8 or win10) --> rightclick the file rockusb.inf and install
Now it should work!
Cheers!

Kind of reminds me of the same mod for the 2017 Genesis/Mega Drive flashback HD prior to the external SD card slot on the 2018 version.

Nice video. It is interesting that they didn’t include the 2600 version of Space Invaders. I think though, that I will stick with my FB 9.

Ah. Berzerk. First game I ever owned on any platform. Actually owned it a day or two before I got the 2600 itself!

Wow, pretty simple "mod". I guess they didn't include it out of the box for legal reasons. Thanks for showing us.

I suggest using a program called Bulk Rename Utility. It can replace all those spaces with underscores, remove the (USA) for all files in the directory in seconds. I've used it for years so it is trustworthy. It will add a entry in the Context menu so you launch it by right-clicking on the folder and click 'Bulk Rename Here'. It is has a ton of options and might seem overwhelming but you can just use the Replace option for most things you want to do. You would type a space for the 'Replace' and either an underscore or nothing for the 'With' to replace all spaces with either underscores or remove them. If you wanted to remove that (USA) at the very end of the filename you would use replace ' (USA).' with '.' minus the single quotes. You want to make sure it has the space in front of (USA) and there is a period after (USA) and then replace it with a single period because that denotes the file extension. You could be safe and replace ' (USA).a26' with '.a26'. You still have to select the files in the top of the window and it will show you what the filenames will look like in green before clicking the rename button in the bottom-right corner. This is very useful when some emulators require that the ROM use the BIN extension instead of another when the ROM file is technically the same. Make a copy of the folder first to get the hang of it. You don't want to mess up your only copy of 400+ ROMs. Also DON'T use this to rename ZIP or 7Z extensions as those are compressed files that you have to extract first.

Thank you for the great tutorial. I was wondering, is there any way to add roms to the internal memory rather than running the games from USB?

Time to mod this and put SD or USB connector on the slot :D
