Actually, the problem with english speakers and words like "entiendo" is about the production of sounds not about length. Sounds "D'and "T" in english are produced with the tip of your tongue against the last part of the front palate. That is why when you produce these sounds in english you can feel like some sort of small "explosion" or puff of air that comes out of your mouth (you can actually check this by putting your hand in front of your mouth every time you produce these sounds). On the contrary, in spanish these two sounds are produced with the tip of your tongue against the back of your teeth. Change this with every T and D that you produce and you will sound a little bit less North American.

De hecho, el problema con los hablantes de inglés y palabras como "entiendo" es la producción de sonido no la duración del mismo. Los sonidos D y T en inglés se producen con la punta de la lengua contra la parte frontal y última del paladar. Por eso cuando producís estos sonidos sentís una especie de "explosión" o sentís que sale aire precipitadamente de tu boca (lo podes sentir si cada vez que producís este sonido colocas tu mando en frente de tu boca). Por el contrario, en español, estos dos sonidos se producen con la punta de la lengua contra la parte de atrás de los dientes. Cambia la forma de producir estos sonidos y vas a lograr sonar un poco menos yanqui.

Una de las cosas que más me gustan de vos Dustin, es que hablando en inglés, encuentro que es muy fácil entenderte. Debe ser la forma en que modulas al hablar.

Jajaja sos un genio Dustin! I totally agree with the "ummm" mistake that people do when they're learning Spanish! I'm in Bs.As right now and I know a lot of Americans here that speak Spanish well, but they TOTALLY botch the language when they do that. It's the same for a lot of native Spanish speakers who use "ehhh" when they're thinking, and just that little noise automatically makes you think that they're not an English native speaker. Please make more videos like this, especially to help us Yanquis who are in Argentina and are trying to perfect our accent! :)

A mí me pasa al revés. Soy argentina y siempre estoy tratando de hablar bien el inglés, que se me entienda, y cuando me dicen "you have a good accent" Muy buenos consejos, Dustin, y ese "nos vemo" final, aplausos jajaja
