Jim Mora's best rant was against the NFL sports writers
'You know nothing about football...and you never will."....and he was absolutely right.

The colts that season gave up 486 points. They also scored 413 points. crazy numbers.

2nd only to Dennis Green's "The Bears r who we thought they were!" Epic rant though, anytime someone says "Playoffs", no matter what sport, I say it in Mora's voice.😆

Colts told Mora he could keep his job if he fired DC VIc Fangio and Mora refused.

This is where a coach is talking to his players through the media. Like Mike Singletary did to Vernon Davis with the "I want winners!" comment.

Bring on the rants. These days any time we see unscripted honesty it's refreshing. Of course the penalty is death. Appears he never coached again. But it's refreshing to see anyway

I never understood why this was treated as a meltdown from the coach. The journalist asked a stupid question. It was stupid because it was so much disconnected from reality. The coach reaction was sincere disbelief at that stupidity. He was right. That was no meltdown.

I grew up a 49ers fan beginning in the 1980s. The Saints and 49ers used to be in the same division for a long time, so we were very used to seeing and hearing of Coach Mora. His "Playoffs!?!" rant was nothing new if you'd seen the man during his time with the Saints.

Another great rant was Coach Dennis Green's "Thy are who we thought they were."

Along with Jim Mora and Dennis Green, another great rant came from Herm Edwards "Hello? You play to win the game!".

The diddly poo rant was better than ‘playoffs?!’

It was the mid 80s when Mike Ditka became the first true media star as HC. He won the SB, had a lot of success so teams wanted a more passionate kind of guy whom wouldn’t take a loss standing down as opposed to the more stoic guys like Landry, Knox, Noll and Shula. Glanville, Schottenheimer, Wyche, Buddy Ryan alongside Jim Mora were the new breed of emotionally unhinged, passionate coaches hired in part of Ditkas success with that style. Postgame press conferences after a loss from one of these guys was usually headline news and was epic drama. The era of the prima donna HC had mixed and usually disappointing results. These guys had talented players but their teams underachieved. Their antics provided good theater but also served as a divisive distraction. Things better handled behind closed doors turned players against these coaches and that era eventually came to an end

I don't know exactly how this came up but when UK basketball was performing quite underpar this one season (I forget which), I think someone mentioned "Final Four" and I couldn't resist and I was like, wha, Final Four!? Are you kidding me!? Final Four!?!? I just hope we can still make the NCAA Tournament and not make a complete fool of ourselves!!

No, the best coach meltdown ever is the immortal vulgarity of ol Uncle Jerry, Jerry Burns. And THAT was after a win!

Great vid brother..liked. Not subbed as I no longer watch football. I get player safety, but when I saw the OLB from my team literally HOLD UP the opposing QB, never again.

Bud Grant for the Vikings had an awesome rant in the late 80's. He actually sounds like he'd been drinking heavily before the press conference. It's pretty awesome!

I remember hearing this rant the day when it happened. I knew the Colts were in deep trouble when I found out what happened in that game vs. the 49ers. The Colts couldn't even credibly think about the playoffs after that stinker, so I can see where Mora was coming from (Peyton Manning hated the rant, but that's way too many interceptions for one game). He wouldn't part ways with defensive coordinator Vic Fangio, so the Colts broke Mora off.

Way to put it into perspective, good job. You need to do herm Edwards rant next..you play to win the game.
