Bird are techincally dinosaurs actually, they are evolved from small dinosaurs with feather or avian dinosaurs, they survived the k-pg extinction by hiding underground like mammals at the time (yes mammals appeard in the ages of dinosaurs but they more looked like rodents than their modern counterpart)
