A trick I found in my most recent run is that you can start in Pipistrello's Cave and then move backwards which takes you right by the rock with no enemies to deal with.

I would say that the whale from battleblock theater is the most hidden because you need to play battleblock theater and then all of the sudden you have him. (I don't think there's a warning either)
