Happy birthday GTA 5!! 9 years ago today. What a technologically advanced masterpiece of a game it was in 2013

This takes me back. I used to have a Q6600 at the time GTAV came out, but I only played on console then.

Good video: If you have this setup then I suggest: Bsel mod the Q6600 (it can be done with a tiny piece of electrical tape), it will get you to 3ghz, no voltage increase needed. The 9800gt will probably overclock another 100mhz on both the core and memory. Those tweaks would make a BIG difference in this game.

I had that exactly setup until 1 year ago, Core i5 3470 + GTX 660 + 1x8GB 1600MHz. With mix of high/very high GTA V can still run at 60 FPS most of the times, but the CPU will cause a slightly bottleneck in some busy areas.

I have played it on the same cpu with 4 gb ddr3 ram and nvidia quadro k600. It was a 30 fps or above experience all of the time.

This reminds me of those days when as a kid my dad got me a laptop with integrated gpu and I had to run every game in 800x600 to even get that 30 fps.... Ah maan...

GTX 660 is not a bad card. I got one for 20 bucks a while ago to use in a secondary PC. Good to know it runs GTAV. The 660ti is selling around 18 bucks now here which is a better card so it is very cheap to get into GTAV gaming.

Good to see the legendary Core 2 Quad Q6600 on the channel! May we expect more tests with it when possible? Maybe with the improved versions such as the Q9400?

I would've liked to see you test minimum requirements with a RAM upgrade or a slight upgrade to a component to see what it takes to get a more acceptable experience. In this case DDR2 4GB sticks are rare and expensive though so you did what you could.

about the poor performance, you'd usually notice the horrid optimization when you're near the changed updated areas, like the casino, and the New Island(cayo perico) that's locked behind a paywall and a heist (in-game money), new island is filled with vegetation and casino is just filled with Effects and possibly telementry, those are the only two highlights, anyways, amazing video as always Kryzzp keep it up!

maybe 4GB of RAM and that kind of CPU was enough back then because back then Windows 10/7/8.1 is lighter compared to the current version. I remember i could play F1 2015 in my HD 4000 laptop with 20-30 fps, but now my laptop is struggling to get 20 fps. maybe hardware degradation also slightly affect the fps. anyway, great video 👍👍

please always test online in full session (28-30 players) its much intensive than 10-20 players lobby

Hey Kryzzp, have really been enjoying those minimum/recommended requirements videos lately, so I would be really happy if you did one such video for Elden Ring

I wanna see what's the absolute minimum I can go with and still get 60 fps

whenever you benchmark GTA Online, be sure to take into account for how many players are in the session, as that can also have an effect on FPS

G'day Kryzzp,
I really love these Minimum & Recommended videos, especially for old games to see how the Specs hold up on W10 with such old components as the OS is much more busy than XP or W7.

The RAM makes a MASSIVE difference. My Core 2 Quad q8200 (which is about equivalent to the q6600 if you look at bentchmarks) that I used to daily drive but that I now use as a spare PC just in case ran the game horribly with only 4GB or RAM (DDR2 800MHz) which I though was fine due to the lying minimum requirements but when I swapped the motherboard for one that allowed for 8GB DDR3 1333MHz (the higher RAM speed probaly helped too) it ran great. 1080p 30fps at minimum settings aside from very high textures (which make a huge visual difference but no real FPS difference in GTA V assuming that you have 8GB of ram and 2GB of VRAM) with a GT 640 with 2GB vram.

I played it on my ps3 and after its release on PC, I played with an i3-540, GT430, and 4 gigs of ram from 2015 up until 2017. I even installed a bunch of mods on it. I think I used to get ~25-55 fps on 720p. Seems like yesterday.
