The 4-4 break point save in the third set is just nerve wracking!

Medvedev needs to take some time in the offseason and really work on his serve.
That’s all.

That's a salty handshake from Med!😀😀😀🧀

Daniil is one of, if not, my favourite player, and there was a time when he would barely lose any games to someone outside the top 10 when playing on a hard court, especially indoors. I hope he finds his form again.

He needs to sort out his serve, but I worry the issue is more his mentality. It seems he has other priorities nowadays and he's intelligent enough to know that he won't win many more titles with Sinner and Alcaraz playing at a level that he probably isn't capable of reaching. How much more can Medvedev really improve over his previous best?

I’m surprised he didn’t break his racquet by the way the match ended. Really wish Medvedev plays better at the atp finals. Great win Alexei

When will Medvedev return to form? : /

Miss him.

Medvedev and Rublev played the same kind of game they played since 2019 when their compatriot added new twists and tricks to their arsenal, constantly evolving and refining their weapons
They need to recharge well during the off-season so they can come back with a splash Down Under

For context, Alexi was screaming because the linesman absolutely screwed him over on the break point before the 4-4all one shown. The linesman called a slow lob from Popyrin out and he had to replay the break point which he should've won. Alexi did extremely well not to tilt but that's why he was so fired up at the end.

Meddy better tighten up cause these guys are all great. You snooze, someone will unseat you.

Medvedev has replaced Zverev as the new double fault king

I feel I will never see Daniil win another tournament. There are too many great players nipping at the heels of Sinner/Alcaraz. 😢

Alexei Popyrin deserved a Breakout Star of The Year: He wins Montreal, beat Djokovic at Us Open, and now beating Medvedev at Paris

14 double faults, almost 4 games given away, and its not even Christmas😅
And still Medvedev could have won the match..
If his serve comes back to like that Us open final level against Djokovic, he will be fine! If he can't get it back for some reason, he could drop down the rankings pretty fast! Considering how many good players are coming up..
Like Draper, Fils, an Perricard to name a few...

Medvedev had a window from his 2019 U.S.Open run through the 2024 Australian Open.

I think that window is likely closed. Imagine the scar tissue from being up two sets to love against Rafa in 2022 and Sinner two years later, and losing both?

He’s 1-6 overall and that has to be maddening.

Re: the handshake. This was a contentious match. (They didn't show the part where a line call was wrong and Popyrin threw a tantrum and said he didn't want to play anymore). I've never liked Popyrin's attitude. I remember when Shelton beat him at the AO in 2023 and he made the comment that Popyrin was "bullying" people around on the court. I don't usually root for Meddy, but I definitely was here. I can't believe he didn't beat him.

Not surprising Medvedev lost. His confidence and serve are missing. His practices were just okay but his ground game was better (normal). I think his serve has let him down in important points which had usually not been the case in the pass. Also, Popyrin is a good player than can beat you if you don’t show enough variety or hit balls that are heavy or change directions with pace. Good job Popyrin for staying in the match
