What annoys me is when somebody sits at a machine for 30 mins and does 1 set in those 30 mins and staring at their phones the rest of the time..

Depends on the gym and its equipment, as well as the time of day. It’s fine to ask somebody how many sets there are left in the morning when people are more limited by time, or in busy hours when there can be a line-up for different machines.

I agree 100%. I train with specific movement patterns, but I am very adaptable with my equipment selection. Personally, I prefer using dumbbells because their wide availability in most public gyms. I hardly use machines, only leg press, vertical leg press, and cables for lat pull downs and tricep push downs. Literally everything else are dumbbells.

Yeah, but how do you find out if some machine gonna get free or not if you don't ask? Sometimes in rush hours literally everything is taken. So you approach and ask. It's not about terrorize anyone or hurry them up or anything like that. You just find out if it makes sense to wait. I am constantly being asked as well as I am asking. Sometimes people decide to share since why not if they have 2 minutes break between sets. Just be polite and people will respond with the same.

I don’t care what anyone thinks about Sam!!! He has become my favorite to watch and learn from!! I know he’s young, but videos like this make me like him even more!! Mountain Dog was my favorite, so now Sam has become my MD!! Just saying!! Have a great day!!!!

this!! this is the only reason to learn 6 different ways to hit the chest. you only need a press and a fly
I just have preference
DB press> BB Press > machine press > weighted dips &
cable flys > machine flys> DB flys> archer push-ups

you only need the 2 exercises but knowing all 8 makes it so I never have to wait.

Exactly i have my own stuff. Especially when time is tight and someone won't let u jump in, say on a pull down, and their looking at their phone for 15 min, and refuse u to work in. Only have to move the pin

Right Lee! I can’t stand it when someone asks me how many more sets I got…. On the other hand I don’t stay on a machine to long so it doesn’t happen often…. But hated when it happens!

The worst case of this I've seen is at the gym I go to now. The guy puts weights on the barbell for bench press, does one set, then goes and grabs dumbbells and does like 3 or 4 other exercises on that bench with stretching between sets. Ends up taking up the bench press for over an hour for like 3 or 4 total sets of actual benching

I put my headphones on and ignore any questions from others at the gym.
In my mind, I am the most important person at the gym, and everyone else is scum.

Man I sat on the lat pull down for 8 sets 2 days ago, dude asked me “hey man, you bout done?” whilst 3 other pull downs were open the entire time

I like that this guy is at least positive and has legit advice. Seems like he’s humble and human. Glad he’s not running in place and “flapping” his lats like a tool for attention.

Asking for the machine isnt bad, is a normal thing. Is acc so good when ur able to switch with someone cuz you also talk to them and maybe get some knowlege ab training or simply socializing. As long as you respect the set is all good
