Glad you enjoyed my chance cubes! I will say that no the Plains biodome is not the only reward you get from the Giant Chance Cubes, but that being said, they do have a much smaller reward pool so it may seem like the same rewards keep occurring. giant chance cubes are AMAZING for skyblock when you do it in your home dimension bc it builds a entire area for you to live in.

Mekanism machines with vanilla settings are about on par with Thermal Expansion with vanilla settings.
The pack author apparently changed the settings for TE, but not for Mekanism (or maybe there is no such setting)

However, once you finish the last few quests in Alpha, you'll find out that you can upgrade a few of the mekanism machines (like the Smelter) to "Factories", the Top tier one being able to handle 7 operations at the same time. With the speed upgrades, it's normally faster than TE with upgrades (vanilla settings) but it would probably still fall short in this pack because of the custom settings.

Trying to give a simplified explanation of aura cascade:
- The Blocks get energy when aura falls from a Node above to a node below. (The longer the fall, the more energy)
- Nodes (and pumps) on the same level in cardinal directions of each other will try to equalize the aura in their "network"
- Pumps take an external energy source (like the burning pump taking coal and other fuels) to push aura upwards to a node. (The longer the climb, the more fuel needed per unit)
- Toss (Q) Aura crystals on nodes to add some to the "network". Toss (Q) fuel at the Burning pump to get it working.

The builds I've seen involve placing the block you want to use (say, the Cascading Smelter), place 4 Aura Nodes on each side of it. Leave an empty space one block after that, then place a Burning Aura Pump, in line with each Aura Node.
Then go up a few blocks (somewhere between 5-8) and place aura nodes above the 4 Burning Pumps, and above the 4 nodes next to the Cascading Smelter so you basically have four "loops" of Aura, one per side.
Toss a bunch of Aura Crystal: White at each of the 4 bottom nodes (a stack or 2 per node is fine, can do more with no real loss, since you have infinite EMC anyway) then toss fuel at the Burning Pumps and watch stuff go (different fuels affects burn time, not power).

Note: Some machines require more "Power per Progress", which means that the amount of power given in a single "fall" of aura needs to be at least that much. (That's why there's the "Last Power" in the UI, so you know if you're not providing enough, and by how much)
Ways to increase that is to increase the height of the top nodes (longer fall), or replace the Nodes that makes aura fall with Node Capacitors (I think that's the name). You can right click them to say "Only drop Aura once you reach X amount contained". That means you get less frequent drops, but they'll contain more power, so they'll be valid for the "Power per Progress", you'll just get them slower.

Hypno, you can upgrade some mekanism machines to factories, the last tier can process up to 7 items at once

Take a look at Mekanism Factories. A single block can smelt 9(?) items at once ridiculously fast at it's most upgraded. Mekanism also offers 5x ore to ingot ratios if you set it up, which is a lot of fun to do and a very involved process.

TE stuff upgraded might be faster per item, but Mekanism's deal is that with the factories you can run up to 7 things at once. Really only need 2 or 3 speed upgrades with the full energy upgrades. Mekanism is also great because you can setup the factories to run with each other and triple ores with the factories. Then go further down the line and get 5x ores for stuff you need more of (like Shiny or Draconium).

hypno, the mekanism machines don't seem that fast even with all the upgrades, but you can upgrade all of the machines to factories which gives them like 7 processing slots. so in the end, way faster than TE or E-IO

You can upgrade the machine, they can smelt up to 7 different items at once, just see the uses on the crusher, and you need a enrichment chamber for the ores
