In French, mon is for masculine noun and ma is for feminine noun.

Masculine: mon livre - my book
Feminine: ma bouteille - my bottle

But if a feminine noun starts with a vowel or a silent h, we also use mon

mon amie (feminine noun) - my friend

Yeah. That is why French is pretty hard. Like the sounds RRRRCCCCHHH, and the silent “s” like in the word “bas”.
