As per the reports, Chennai will experience thunderstorms and heavy rain in the next 48 hours. Thunderstorms with lightning may occur in many other parts of Tamil Nadu, too, for two more days. The Indian Meteorological department has predicted heavy rainfall today as well. Tamil Nadu has received a 43% surplus rainfall and Chennai registered a 26% excess since October 1, Heavy rainfall in Chennai has flooded several areas in the city. It is the highest recorded rainfall in a 24-hour period since 2015. Though the rainfall stopped in Chennai late on Sunday night, mild to moderate, intermittent rainfall is continuing reported in other regions of Tamil Nadu, including Erode and Tiruvarur.
