Everyone always wonders what kind of price differences there are between the USA and Iceland when it comes to the day to day shopping. Here I'll be looking at various foods and comparing the prices between Netto and Walmart.
All prices are in US dollars.

Let me know in the comments if these prices are accurate.

The reason food prices is so high is because of the shipping the foods to Iceland. It is just my thinking of this situation. 😁😁😁😁😁

I'd be curious about comparing fish and meat prices too ?

I personally never shop at Walmart, saw how they treat their employees. Prices in Iceland seem comparable to here in Canada. Even cheaper on some things.

Cheers Rob. Keep them coming. How about some more vids in Reykjavik? I hear the harbour area is undergoing some development. Perhaps an update on that.

That's it, i'm moving to Iceland, I can save a dime a year on buying their yellow peppers!

If my math is accurate, if a person bought one of each of those items, it'd cost $26.63 in the U.S. and $47.01 in Iceland. That'd work out to 77% more in Iceland. I'm sure that's mostly shipping costs, as others have mentioned.

So items you can grow there in a greenhouse is comparable but fruits and items that come from warmer climates and can't grow in a greenhouse very well will have to be shipped in and cost more. makes sense to me, lol thanks!

I'm in Michigan and I've NEVER seen watermelon near $2!!! It's usually bout $5 in the summer & up to $9 in winter. I don't shop at walmart, but still....Also, most produce from Walmart is crap & not organic..

I just wish that fresh produce wasn't bundled into packaging so we can actually choose for ourselves how much we need and prevent excessive food wastage. I can understand this reasoning when shipping to Iceland but not for countries that produce all this food. Sure, the supermarkets profit more but I can not condone the waste of good food. Quite sure you'd be surprised at how expensive our fresh produce is in Australia where we actually grow it. Even meat, red in particular, is out of reach for many families.

Walmart, here in New England is dirt cheap. Regular grocery stores are usually more than Walmart. Some of your prices are very similar, others like that sad looking pineapple are a lot higher. Whole pineapples here go for $3.99 ea.

Thanks for your review 👍🏻. The vegetables look very fresh.
I think the prices for vegetables will be much higher in winter.
Now in August we have the lowest prices for vegetables in Central Russia. I will freeze a lot of tomatoes in September so that I can use it for cooking in the winter and until June next year. In winter I can also buy tomatoes, it is not so expensive, but winter vegetables contain too much chemical and this gives me a headache.

Neat video. It would be interesting to know if blueberries are brought in from europe or where, and same for strawberries

Love this! It would be interesting to see what Kroger’s prices are instead of Walmart. Not sure Walmart is such a great comparison.

If I shopped at that Netto place, I'd go broke faster than ever!

I’m shocked 😳 about Strawberries 🍓 & Blueberries 🫐 which are plentiful in the UK, as they grow berries in abundance on local UK Strawberry/Berry Farms.
I would have believed, the UK would export them to Iceland 🇮🇸, being kind of geographically close.
Maybe the EU prevents these exports unless they’re grown in the EU.
Iceland isn’t IN the EU per se, but there are trade laws Iceland has to observe. Here I thought it might just be FISH that was regulated. Pity too! Who doesn’t 💕 baking with berries.

Hey Rob, gotta question or two about groceries in Iceland. Just how food independent is Iceland? Could Iceland feed itself if all imported food went away?

There's also HAGKAUP. It's nicer but more expensive.

This year I've grown my own tomatoes in Southern England. They have much more flavour than store tomatoes so I would say you can't buy them at all.
