DARK ORBIT (2001) | Full Game | No Commentary

An old WildTangent game that deserves far more recognition.

It's so difficult to find any information on this game, because another developer decided to release a game in 2006.... and also named it Dark Orbit. Unfortunately, that game ended up being far more popular than this one; which is a damn shame because this one could've and should've gotten a sequel, at the very least. A fun fact about this game, is that the demo for it used to come with certain installs of good ol' Windows XP. The entire reason that I know about it, is because my siblings and I used to play the absolute crap out of that demo when we were kids. Good times. Another fun fact: I discovered, while making the thumbnail for this video, that the font used for the title of the game is Times New Roman. Literally just Times New Roman. Huh....

this game came preloaded into a laptop that my mom and dad got for my brother and I in the 2000s. there were some other games on it too but i cant remember them. another one was an FPS space shooter.

My apologies for the few times that the game pause text comes up. I clicked out of the window by accident. I don't think it happened too much, but my lazy a** should've edited that out.

Another thing, I have no idea what causes the textures on some of the models to pop in and out like they do; but, given how obscure the game is, I can't find much on how to fix it.

Youtube is still attaching the WRONG Dark Orbit. Theirs is saying 2006, but I clearly remember playing it back around 2001.

How’d you get this game to run? I see you downloaded it from another user. Was it pretty simple or did you have to jump through a lot of hoops?
