It looks as if the "stone" was semi-solid when they tried to cut it. Semi-hard material is easily and accurately cut with string or rope. I have seen cutting bricks with metal strings when the bricks are not yet fired.

With a strip of any metal available at the time, water, and a lot of Corundum. And one or two guys pulling and pushing the "saw". Its because of human error that piece broke off during the cut, one can clearly see the change of angle that was made. Hence why it remains as a broken failure, albeit in a museum.

To cut granite, you should use a diamond blade specifically designed for stone or masonry. Here are some options: Diamond Blade: Look for a continuous rim diamond blade, which is ideal for cutting granite smoothly without chipping. These blades have a smooth edge that helps in achieving clean cut. These people must have been aware of this method.

They've used wet rope attached to a camel 🐫. the rope was covered with wet sand, then the camel pulled the rop, and the stone was cut like a modern chains ⛓️ cutting technique. 👌

And this is why you don’t let the apprentice work the ropesaw. Curved cut then stopped.

the slaves would drip their sweat rags in one spot until the granite eroded enough to cut each stone

Hemp rope and corundum/emery
Look at the end of the cut looks like its worn back into the block at the top of cut, so not a saw.
Maybe.
Like the step at top of grand gallery
