NASA is Going Back to Venus
NASA announces its return to Venus after an absence of over three decades. Venus was once a planet with an atmosphere resembling that of ancient Earth, featuring lakes of liquid water and the potential for life at some point in its past. However, it has since evolved into an inhospitable world with a scorching average surface temperature of 460 degrees Celsius (850 degrees Fahrenheit). In an effort to unravel the mysteries of Venus' transformation, NASA plans to conduct the DaVinci mission, which comprises both a spacecraft and a probe.
The spacecraft's primary objectives are to monitor cloud movements and study the planet's heat emission through its dense atmosphere to create a detailed surface map. Meanwhile, the probe will descend into Venus' atmosphere to gather samples of its chemistry, as well as record temperature, pressure, and wind data. The DaVinci mission is expected to revolutionize our understanding of Venus and offer crucial insights into the factors responsible for the planet's drastic changes over time.
