7 House Plant fails I’ve been too ashamed to share online 🙈

Ok so today we are being super transparent and I and showing you all current state of some of the plants I posted online. And they certainly aren’t pretty !!

But no more hiding these plants , because this is the reality of house plant keeping and gardening, some plants struggle and growth is not always linear. So why shy away from the fuggly !!

Earlier today, I was feeling down about my plant struggles. Now I've watched this video and jokingly thought to myself that I've to report you to the police for being a serial plant killer. 😄

My plants taught me not to treat them like pieces of furniture and that they don't care whatever aesthetic you are trying to achieve. I had a nice collection of anthuriums, beautifully displayed on shelves. Then the weather changed, the son has turned, and they were dying. I tried hard to save them, gave up after a while. I dumped the sorry leafless remains under the water tank stand, and a miracle happened! Now I think I understood. Their roots like exposure to the air and access to water at the same time. Now my anthuriums are back from the dead, growing in pots with holes, in chunks of charcoal and coconut, with a saucer under them with a bit of water, still in their chosen location under the water tank where it is shaded and humid. Actually, my orchids grow the same, but in a brighter place. I learned that Euphorbia tirucally is a very toxic plant, exposure to it has been linked to development of lymphomas. Definitely not a good house plant. Greeting from Accra

Licuala isn't an easy palm to grow to begin with. It is an understory palm from a very wet region so it wants shade, but outdoor shade not indoor shade and it can never dry out for more than about a day or it just throws a fit. It is very temperature sensitive (too hot, it dies, too cold it dies).

No shame here! This is the only social media I have, but I’m not shy about showing my plants off to anyone who visits me .The tricky part is playing it cool if they come back and ask where a certain plant went (oops). Not gonna lie, though—when I saw that pencil cactus, I gasped so loud I scared myself. Still, no shame!
