The Entire Rise of the Inca Empire

—------
One of the most remarkable civilizations in history, the Inca Empire ruled over millions of people, connected by 25k miles of road, aqueducts, monuments and bridges. Their vast population formed massive armies and engineered wonders of the world–all of this with no system of written script, no currency, and no wheels or horses. If popular history tends to focus on their downfall, this is the incredible story of the rise of the Incas. The stone marvels of Machu Picchu, Sacsayhuamán and their immense road system endure today.

It was so fun creating art for this. Over 40 paintings I believe. Tons of work but I'm gonna really miss this world. Looking forward to working on part 2!

Imagine having such excellent art quality you have to add "written and illustrated by humans" in your title screen.

Wonderful work, as always.

Peruvian guy here. The guinea pigs's sound was a total surprise! It got a good laugh from me, I can assure you. Also, this has to be one of the very few times that the youtube algorythm actually delivered. Already loving your work, by the way.

As a Peruvian from Cusco, this video sent shivers down my spine, seeing my culture and heritage take the seat it deserves among the great empires of old feels incredible

I can’t tell you how much I have been looking forward to this one! We need more history on the Aztec and Incan Empires.

Thank you so much! As an Ecuadorian it’s really refreshing to see someone cover the greatness of the Inca. People only ever talk about the Aztecs, Mayans, or the fall of the Incans🥲

As a Peruvian currently in pursuit of a phd and my work is primarily in the Peruvian Andes, i have to say this is SUPER WELL DONE. I’m glad you mention the nuance of politics the Inka dealt with, the real fact that they were to some degree a fully authoritarian state, and also the themes of reciprocity. All i can really say is thank you from the bottom of my heart

Pachacuti’s conquests were so well known that a moniker was made centuries after the empire’s fall: The Napoleon of the Andes.

I knew that pre-Columbian American civilizations were way more advanced than I learned in school, but I never could've imagined this. I see the likes of Rome, Greece, Babylon, and medieval Europe present in every painting. I see a civilization so much more powerful and beautiful than I ever thought possible. Joseph Feely is an absolute artistic genius

As someone with Peruvian heritage thank you for this video, there is not much history about the Incas out there but this video is one of the best I've ever seen! I have an even greater appreciation for my ancestry now.

I put this video on while getting ready to go out and ended up staring at my phone in a trance for half an hour. This was such an engrossing history. Your writing and art are beautiful. It helps that I knew very little about the Inca Empire's rise before European colonialism, so I'm very glad to have watched this video. Thanks!

That encounter with Incas left such a deep impact on Mapuches, that every other foreigner since then, starting with Spanish colonists and ending with a Dutch backpacker today, would be called "winka", or "new Inca", even non-native Chileans will get that label, because you never know what they might be up to, right?

The South American Empires remind me of Early Roman Civilization from their great everlasting structures to their clothing and military apperal and governmental structures It's fascinating.

If you look at a topographical map of South America and where the Inca Empire was based in, it was very impressive that they got so large and powerful, yet maintained it quite well. It took an unforeseen threat from the different side of the world to lay them low: Disease from the Old World.

As a Peruvian it was a good video, the images and editing were excellent although a little disorganized in the expansion to the north. As you mentioned the Waris and Tiahuanacos. I hope you dedicate a video to those two civilizations that were also important. Greetings.
