Seeds For Free | Bristol Seed Swap Haul 2020 (Allotment Garden)

Welcome and thank you for joining me today where I share with you all the seeds that I got from Bristol Seed Swap, and I also chat about all the things I learnt from Charles Dowding's seed saving talk. The seed swap is almost an 180 mile round trip from my Swansea home, but it is one annual gardening event that I just can't miss!

Hi Erica (and y'all), just found your channel via google, searching for what goes on in the world of seed swapping these days. Yes, I know, a bit late for this year :) I was tidying out an old cupboard a few days ago and found a jar of Sandpoint tomato seed that I saved in 1994, , , and it is still viable !
Hope all your Bristol swaps are doing ok Thanks for the info, marked for next year (fingers xxed!)

Hi Erica, throwing info at us all the way through your vid, wow, thanks. Have you seen 'Steve's Seaside Allotment' channel? He grows field beans over winter and crops the growing tips. This would fit in with your 'sprouting seeds'. My sister lets them 'fruit' but I prefer broad beans.
I've not found seed swaps in North West Wales but keeping an eye out.

I'm going to have to try get my hands on one of them calendars just the thing I need because I'm rubbish at knowing when to sow things lol. Looks like you got a nice haul of seeds there would love to go to a seed swap going to seed if theres any local ones around.

Are you sure that tomatoes don’t cross pollinate? I thought that we need to bag a truss to keep seeds true, if you’re growing more that one variety x

Completely agree with the lack of quality of the main seed brand's, I twigged it about a decade ago when I got my first order from premier seeds direct and saw the instant germination difference between them and the top brand's, haven't looked back since, now I don't buy from those brand's unless it's free packets in a magazine or free or extremely discounted offers from them and say I'm ordering seed trays or something anyway. We're paying three time's the price for sometimes a fifth of the seed's, that only partly germinate. This realisation was both freeing and sad to be honest. Great haul, do you have a link for "Weird Seed"?
