What cop is going to try to stop a person fleeing a crime scene? You can only get in trouble. You won’t be in trouble if you do nothing. And to those fleeing - why wouldn’t you flee?

No police officers should be making any effort to stop crimes in progress - you need to think about your freedom first - what good can come from stopping a crime in progress? People who aren’t officers can analyze the video in hindsight and come to the conclusion you didn’t do things 100% right and you can wind up in jail. There is no reason for you to put yourself in that position. I would suggest staying the car until the crime is over. You can’t take this risk anymore. The public thinks you are thugs and want to see you in prison - you can’t gamble with freedom protecting them. And nobody should be trying to convince you otherwise.
