A typical flat lesson on Roger! | GoPro

We finally had a very much needed flat lesson - yaaay!!! We’ve been jumping so much recently, with the showjumping paddock in the summer and making the most of the fillers & blocks that were then brought into the school, and as much as I love jumping, it made a very nice change! I got to have a little spin on Roger Dodger (thank you ST Equestrian for giving me the option of riding your pony as a little change!) - this worked out really well as it meant Magic still had a much needed flat lesson with Robin on board and I got to have a pure flat on Roger, which I haven’t done now for probably about two years…! It’s hard to tell from the video but it was a very windy day and it was hard to get Roger concentrating, especially during the warm up, but he still worked nicely and listened really well. He was of course a superstar when it came to turn on the forehand and the leg yielding which he finds very easy! I let him down in the final walk-to-canter leg yields as I just didn’t give him enough warning about the transition, and there wasn’t time to do them again, but he still did everything I asked so well and so easily, it’s always such a treat to have a flat on a pony that can be so responsive and listens so intently to what you’re asking (when he wants to!).

Qotd: my favourite thing to do is an exercise we do where you circle in trot and half way round canter and then do another circle at the other end of the school in canter and then half way round trot it really gets the horses listening! I'm not sure what my least favourite is because flatwork is one of my favourites!❤️

Love how yellow his mane is in this he looks like a right scruff 😂 Also I got him some new shorter reins at your horse live on Friday so hopefully they won’t gets so looped and tangled as these ones are ridiculously long as they sent me full rather than pony last time 🙈 x

What boots have got on think had same ones but my zipped broken so had get brown ones with lace in front think can go on horse with them not used to brown ones I’ve gone though so many riding stuff just breaks with me on horse 🐎
