Loved the introspective video. Can definitely relate to some years being like this. I find that some years I am motivated to take on the challenges that come with gardening - drought, critters, pests, etc. and other years I give up and let the plants fend for themselves. Its always amazing to see how nature finds a way to grow no matter what the odds!

For slugs: bury a small bowl in the soil, level with the ground, throughout the garden beds. Fill with beer. The slugs will crawl in and drown. Replace beer every few days. I've been doing this for years and it works really well.

Hi from Australia where it is autumn. I loved your video as I struggle with looking back at the gardener I used to be and how little energy I have now. A battle with cancer 7 years ago and being 74 have taken their toll on my energy levels. But for every flower that winks at me as if to say “I survived, I’m blooming, despite your neglect” I feel such a surge of wonder and pleasure. And just to be able to harvest any fresh herbs or vegetables is such a joy and a miracle ...and to know no chemicals contaminated my plants is vital to my health. My pets are the blue banded bee that visits my wild flowers and the water dragon that nests in my fern ...so much joy from watching the birds submerged in my bird bath. Keep videoing please, you bring me such a sense of peace and inspiration.
