Gorz was a perfect pick for the list since everyone still has that habit of attacking with their smallest monster.

I still have PTSD from the days of Gorz, I still always attack with the weakest monsters first because of that thing. xD

I don't know if this is necessarily meta-defining, but I would also include Cyber Dragon. Although it wasn't something you specifically had to be prepared to play against, its effect did bring in the idea that monsters could be easily Special Summoned from the hand with little requirements, which is something that so many decks, meta and non-meta do.

Honestly I feel like Norden deserves a place on the list. He made Instant Fusion a staple for so many decks and stands out by making Instant Fusion basically a 1-card Synchro/Xyz play. Because of Norden you can completely turn the game around just by topping Instant, and that's meta-defining in my eyes. You always have to consider the fact that your opponent can make that play from nothing

Thank you for adding in my suggestion of Stardust Dragon. :)

I think Exciton Knight was a huge one. The ability to mount a comeback because a generic Rank 4 was huge.

was not heavyly used in tourny but for me specificly assault mode stardust was one of the first cards I went against that really sucked and made me want to surrender (I do not surrender except when I know that no card in my deck can save me). Such a jerk move summoning this card is.
