He is also the father of Yuri Dolo, an 11-year-old genius with a passion for astrophysics who dreams of another life in the stars. Very cool story, and the kid genius! For many years I've had the thought that if "anyone" was going to rescue this planet, their focus would be on the planet itself, and not the humanoid infestation that has caused so much devastation. In many ways, as a collective species, we are still quite primitive, and dangerous, like a toddler with a book of matches and cannister of petrol. Why would ET want that? The planet, though, is a rare gem.

Saving an ecosystem often requires getting rid of a certain invasive species. So, it makes sense that humankind, being the worst of invasive species, need to be eradicated for earth to be saved. In this regard, I love the simplicity of the plot. Humanity cannot be saved, but earth might.

A question that can be wondered about is, was that ET wearing tubes in order to adapt to Earth's atmosphere, or was he a result of centuries of genetic modification ?

In the latter case it means that genetic modification, or what on Earth currently is known as transhumanism in its baby steps as shown to kids in schools, is a mandatory step in the evolution of lifeforms and especially lifeforms that aspire to bridge long galactic distances ?
