Two-step equations require two inverse operation steps to solve for the value of the variable. To find the value of the variable, we will need isolate the variable to one side of the equal sign. We review how to use algebra tiles. We also review the parts of an equation as the coefficient, variable, and constant. We walk through several examples of modeling equations with algebra tiles and how to solve the equation. We show how to make zero pairs with + and - tiles on the variable side of the equation. We show how to substitute the value of x into the equation to see if it will make the equation true.
