This HTML Web Design Tutorial will show you how to use HTML entities for inserting special characters like greater than and less than sign, copyright symbol, registered mark and so on. Their are two type of HTML entites one includes using an entity name versus using the pound sign and a number to represent a special character. Although only a few characters are shown in this video many chacters can be displayed on your website using HTML entities. In some cases certain characters are not able to be entered via keyboard thus you have to use HTML entities to display them on your website. In the case of the greater than and less than sign HTML entities are used to ensure that the browser doesn't detect it as a markup tag.
