The sad thing of it is is if Robert had collaborated with Joan and Betty, they probably could’ve cooked up some drama for him to link to Hedda . It would’ve been completely fabricated but Hedda wouldn’t have to know that. Could’ve kept things stable on set keeping the machine going off set. And if Hedda didn’t take the bait they could’ve threatened to give the scoop to Luella.

Hadn’t noticed during the original run how low-rent some of the sets were. Like this restaurant. There are chandeliers hanging from air-conditioning vents, tacky oil paint on the walls, and those fake flower shop “urns” which are not in the least bit convincing or proportionate to those humongous booths and the room overall. The worst offenders are the “coiffured” ceilings. Everything is foam and looks it. Not sure they were meant to be in full focus.
