FIRST LOOK - NEW John Deere Frontier SB1174P Inverted (Pull-type) Snow Blower

I just took delivery of the brand new John Deere Frontier SB1174P Inverted or Pull Type Snow Blower. I am using it with a JD4052R Compact Tractor. After my first season (last year) with a snow pusher I searched for a better solution for moving snow on my property. The snow pusher was easy to use but I ended up with huge snow piles and it struggled in heavy snow. I liked the idea of a blower but didn't want to have to operate in reverse. I also didn't want a loader mounted snow blower, since I wanted the option of using my bucket, grapple or pallet forks in the winter. With this one, I think I found the best solution. In this video I give an overview of the machine. In the next video, once we get some snow, I will put it to work and give you my assessment.

I am not a professional but I like to be able to take care of things around the farm myself. This video may not be perfect (and for that I take full responsibility) but I will give you an average user's perspective and feedback. If I can figure it out and make it work, then you should be able to as well.

That’s exactly why I take off the hydraulic top link. It is not necessary for this application and I need both SCVs for the snow blower.

Just tested mine out today! Throws good but had a hard time not throwing rocks. Quick hitch was pretty rough to get to fit as well.

Interesting that you had to remove your hydraulic top link. I would think it would be helpful no? That said, how would you have managed with only 2 scv’s if you kept the power top link on, wouldn’t you need a 3rd scv?

Did it come with the orange guide sticks? If not where did you get them from?

What was the cost? I emailed my dealer but no word back. Want to see if it’s more or less than a mk Martin.

What ever the amount of snow, say 18 inches, you have to drive over it to blow. I will keep my conventional.
