For the entire summer I did a detox where I did not play a SINGLE GAME of Super Smash Bros Ultimate, focusing solely on improving in Melee. Through the ups and downs, while the detox was a completed success, there is something else even more important that I need to do now...

HealthyBox, I'm 6'0, 225 and 39. I've always been around 180 - 165 and fit, able to wear medium shirts. The last couple years, I started a medicine that cause me to gain weight. With that, my age and genetics, it's hard for not go up to 240. However, yourself and now mango have inspired me to go to 200 by the same date. I don't have 10 k to throw around but I'll find a way to keep myself accountable.

Best wishes to you, myself and everyone including themselves in this journey

This is incredible man. If you take that same dedication you had in melee and apply it to your health, I guarantee you WILL be healthier. Here’s to more protein, weightlifting, and Ultimate!

Good shit brother, I went from 296 down to 190, and man, it feels great. The physical pain and fatigue go down drastically as you shed the lbs. Keep up the hard work!

Juan, happy to hear you’re taking a positive step for your health and fitness. I help beginners with their diet and training and wanted to drop a few tips:

•When you cut out the junk food and make your first dietary changes, you will lose *weight*, but you will not yet be losing *fat*. Your body will be using up your water weight storage first

•This is a good thing in a way, since you’ll be able to drop a substantial amount of weight fairly quickly, perhaps 10+ pounds. But when you get to the fat, it will get tougher

• Every ~3500 calories you burn will result in burning about a pound of fat. So, it you can maintain a calorie deficit of 3500 total calories per week, you can expect to lose about a pound per week. I don’t recommend trying to go much harder than that

•Prioritize low calorie, high protein, low fat, modest carbohydrate meals, and cut out all the junky snacks. Fruits and veggies are my recommended replacements to help you feel full without wrecking your calorie goals

Good luck man!

im losing weight with you bro, i dropped 5 pounds this week, some of my family members have dealt with bad health issues and im trying to break the diabetes track in my life. Im fasting and working out and im gaining muscle weight, but losing fat. If this makes you feel better *I weigh more than you at 19 years old*, its hard but it can be done.

Good on you HBOX. Taking your health seriously is super important. Not just for living a long life but for living a happier life. My recommendation is a relatively strict keto diet. My dad was 300+lbs for over 14 years and cutting out sugar, carbs and vegetable/seed oils focusing on eating lots of fatty meat, eggs, butter, etc. Doing that he lost about 100lbs in about a year. Honestly it was shocking to see him shrink like that, especially with how much better he looked in the face. That was in 2018 and he has ate like that since then. In fact pretty much my whole family has inspired by him and we all took the plunge ourselves. I myself have been eating somewhat strict keto for about 5 years I gotta say it's easy to stick to and has improved my quality of life dramatically. The first 2 weeks or so are little rough due to sugar cravings and you losing a lot of water weight(like 10 pounds), but once you push past that it's almost effortless. If you want more detail info, look up Dr ken Berry on YouTube. That man is responsible for adding many years to the lives of all of my family members.

Treadmill streams would be hype, you could get a pull-up bar too and do one when you lose. Gamifying fitness helps a ton for me. I'm also a chronic multitasker so it soothes my brain a bit and helps me focus on a game without needing a video in another window.
