Challenges and perspectives on the management of AML within the UK's NHS framework

Steven Knapper, DM, FRCPath, MRCP, BMBCh, Cardiff University, Cardiff, UK, discusses the challenges with managing acute myeloid leukemia (AML) within the UK's NHS framework. He highlights novel agents that have become available through the NICE process and further comments on the importance of a cohesive national community of patient groups and clinicians, as well as the UK AML Clinical Research Network, in maintaining momentum and driving forward research and treatment developments.
