Title: Using Movies to Probe the Neurobiology of Anxiety.
Session: Symposia
Speaker: Peter Kirk
Abstract: I will first provide a summary of the methods and results the field has used to generate our fundamental understanding of anxiety; primarily, threat of shock paradigms and contrasts between clinical groups. I will then discuss our investigations into anxiety-relevant idiosyncrasies in functional brain dynamics during movie-watching. Specifically, we've demonstrated associations between trait anxiety, stimulus-evoked activations, dynamic connectivity, and suspenseful movie watching. I will finish by discussing my ongoing studies which integrate peripheral physiology measures.
