My reason for not doing the thing was definitely an identity problem. Similar to other artists, I believed I was too talented to grind it out on social media. But now I realize that I’m not better than anybody else and I too need to grind to be successful

I understand those artists who have trepidation about making social media content. I don't want to see artists like Tracy Chapman, Meshell Ndegeocello or Bob Dylan holding up their selfie cameras to talk to their fans. They could do it but it would feel forced and awkward. And as a fan I don't require that. It would be another story if they LIKE to do it, if it feels forced, it's not genuine. I've seen some artists look like they are visibly following a manager's/record label's marketing dept playbook when they make content and it's kinda cringey as a result.

Artist have to keep going there's a wall & ceiling you hit but eventually you can break through it for the love & identity to monetize Regardless ✌

Many artist consider themselves artist. Anything outside that realm to make this song a hit, it's not in their will house. Education Of A &R. is still important to make a hit record. It just doesn't start and end in the studio.
after you recorded the song, your job has just begun.
