Get Ready, Get Set, & Go For The Code

I am a little confused. I see your response to a previous question states a child would need to recognize all letters and letter sounds prior to starting get ready for the code? I was under the impression this program (abc) was for preschoolers to learn their letters and letter sounds. I don’t know many preschool age children that already know all their letters and sounds. I have already purchased this for my son who is turning 4 this week to be his main preschool phonics program for this year. So are you saying if he doesn’t know all his letters and sounds that this won’t work? I looked at the first lesson in the student book and it appeared to be teaching recognition and sounds?
