I have never related to my name, & wanted to change it since I was young as well. I finally filed & literally wanted to cry I felt so happy. My hearing is coming up, and I can’t wait to get all my new documents & leave the past in the past.

I finally did it guys! Name has been legally changed for four months now. It’s been emotional, weird and people actually made me start to regret it. People are cruel. But I recently learned that people who pick and judged are most likely the ones who wish they could have changed their names too but either didn’t have the guts to do it or the money. My husband told me that those who call me “crazy” or question my decision are likely jealous of the beautiful name that I chose. He told me I was deserving of a beautiful name because I am a beautiful person.I am finding it very surprising at the amount of people who do not like their name. I’m in shock. I changed mine but it wasn’t until I change my mind that I noticed that a lot of people don’t like their names. But then they judge people who change their names? What?

I’ve felt the same way my whole life. You’ve given me the motivation I need to do this. Thank you

OMG. I changed my name too. I had a really difficult Nigerian name that I DID NOT relate to. My mom was cool with it. I haven't told my dad because we don't really speak. He's Nigerian and I am 1000% sure he would be offended. I changed my first name to Elaina and also gave myself a middle name because I didn't have one. I love the name I chose and I feel like it fits me way better than my birth name. Penny is such an awesome name! Do you think you would have liked your name better if the spelling was different...like if it was spelled Jasmine?

Wow Congrats!! This was an awesome journey to experience with you this way. I just turned in my paper work to change my name. I am excited. I decided to look up what this experience has been like for others. In Minnesota its pretty easy but you need $300 and 2 witness for your hearing and a back ground check. You definitely look more like a Penny and a Jazzmin. I was very shocked that that was your name.

Thank you so much for making this video! I’ve been debating changing my name forever because my first name just isn’t me. I’m from PA too and seeing you go thru the full process makes me think it’s a sign from the universe that it’s time for a change!

Got the inspiration from you to finally change my name! I live in Australia so the process is very different i've considered making a video on it like you. I changed my name to Griffin at the age of 25! I used to have a primarily girls name which ive always hated, so glad I finally did it. Thanks for being you gurl & following your dreams & inspiring others !! love yas ! slowly working through every personal document to be sure my old name is well and truly dead, it is a very fulfilling experience :) 10/10 would recommend if you're on the fence

I love your story Penny! I looked at both of your videos and some other videos about name changing. I always knew I wanted to change my name. At first I wanted to change my first name and then I changed my mind, I want my middle name to be last name and give myself a new middle name. Unfortunately New Jersey seems to be a lot more complicated than Pennsylvania. So I'm going to wait on changing my name. But I'm looking into getting a lawyer, hopefully I don't have to get one. If anyone have any tips about the process of changing names, please let me know. Also I really wish people would stop trying to make everything about them. A person changing their name is personal and everybody should respect that.

I’m curious to know how life’s been since making the change? I’m set on changing mine finally! It’s always been a constant battle accepting my name and just introducing myself in general! I want to change it while I’m still fairly young. I’m 23 and saying my legal name just doesn’t feel right to me and no one understands why I feel this way but it’s my life and I’m going to live it so I just want to know how it’s like from the pov of someone who’s done it. Thank you!

Preciate you documenting this. I've been thinking to change my name as well for few years now. By the way the name Penny really does fit you. I don't know how a "Penny" should look or sound like but when you said it, I was like yup. Penny definitely works lol.
