Показать описание
Track 1 from their fifth album “A Farewell to Kings” released in 1977 copyright Anthem Records and recorded at Rockfield Studios in the countryside near Rockfield, Monmouthshire, Wales. Their previous album “2112” had been their breakthrough and was followed by a hugely successful tour of North America, as well as Europe for the first time. The band continued to expand their sound and incorporated a new instrument: bass pedals synthesizers, played by both Lee and Lifeson. This album was another triumph of sonic beauty. It received average to excellent reviews and was followed by a tour of Canada, the U.S. and sixteen shows in the United Kingdom. It reached No. 11 in Canada, No. 22 in the U.K. and No. 33 on the Billboard chart. It went Gold in the U.K. and Platinum in Canada and the U.S. This was their third album cover designed by Hugh Syme, who would be involved with all their subsequent releases. Written by Neil Peart, Geddy Lee & Alex Lifeson and produced by Rush & Terry Brown. RIP Neil Peart. Featuring:

When they turn the pages of history
When these days have passed long ago
Will they read of us with sadness
For the seeds that we let grow?
We turned our gaze from the castles in the distance
Eyes cast down on the path of least resistance
Cities full of hatred, fear and lies
Withered hearts and cruel, tormented eyes
Scheming demons dressed in kingly guise
Beating down the multitude and scoffing at the wise
The hypocrites are slandering the sacred Halls of Truth
Ancient nobles showering their bitterness on youth
Can’t we find the minds that made us strong?
Oh, can’t we learn to feel what’s right and what's wrong, what's wrong?
Cities full of hatred, fear and lies
Withered hearts and cruel, tormented eyes
Scheming demons dressed in kingly guise
Beating down the multitude and scoffing at the wise
Whoa, can’t we raise our eyes and make a start?
Can’t we find the minds to lead us closer to the heart?
