Assassins Creed 2 - Ezio becomes an Assassin

In Assassin's Creed 1 Altair chopped off his ring finger. It was a thing done to show that becoming an assassin was something you would live with for the rest of your life. It was also required for the hidden blade. By moving your cut ring finger it would pop the blade out. In AC 2 Leonardo fixed the blade so that it was no longer needed. So as a symbol towards their past brothers they burn their ring finger rather to go through similar pain and keep their past traditions alive in their time.

I read in one of Altairs codexs that even he is skeptical of the laws of assassins. i quote "How can i follow a creed, if nothing is true..." just something to think about...

@iisl33t The phrase, actually, "Nothing is true; Everything is permitted." was really said by the creators of the Nizaries or Hashashiyyin (Or Assassins, as we know them), Hassan-i Sabbah. So it's not just a game, it has a little of reality too.

The Creed IS contradictory, and the central maxim is a self-defeating statement. But so what? Altair wrote about it in the Codex:

"Nothing is true. Everything is permitted. Does our creed provide the answer, then? That one may be two things – opposite in every way – simultaneously? And why not?"

Human beings are beings of contradiction and unpredictability. It's a virtue, not a flaw.
