Jeff calling out John on the banana republic tweet is so funny. It's almost hard to tell that Jeff hates him.

Newgrounds and YTMND was the shit back in the day. Miss the creativity of animators giving the limitations of the hardware and software from that era.

I found a convincing theory on how and why Jon left Game Grumps. It was never a secret that Jon saw the venture as nothing more than a side project and would leave at any time given a new opportunity. Arin himself commented about this in a few episodes. Jon was likely planning on moving to New York for a while, but he didn't know when. The "E3 incident" was most likely him telling everyone that he was basically packed up to move away then and there. This is why Jon made a separate farewell video, he was already gone before they could film anything together. Arin didn't want anyone to receive any backlash, so he just swept the situation under the rug while Jon put everything behind him. This obviously only led to speculation, which is why the RantGrumps subreddit was made in the first place.

Honestly, never EVER dive into politics if you're not suppose to be a political-focused creator. This applies to both famous figures and your average joe internet dwellers. I was once in that phase myself too, I found myself expressing an opinion on some social issue and it just end up snowballing from there that I end up finding myself becoming part of one of two toxic ideological factions. I managed to get out of it. Now, I still held some of my past believes, while some have changed, but I promised to never ever dive into the abyss of internet politics ever again. I could quote Nietzche for this experience.

Do a video on JibJab and how they fell out of relevance. They even spawned Daneboes career before the Annoying Orange.

It sucks to see that Jon’s political views is what drove him away from gaming. He’s still a funny guy but looking at his recent videos just feels like a piece from him is missing. Yet, it now forms how he is now.

Lesson: you can’t get cancelled if you don’t give a shit

The rare thing about John, is that he learned from his mistakes.
It might sound like something basic, but every other YouTuber that crashed and died didn't.

To his credit, JonTron keeps his politics out of his videos.

While Jontron's gaming videos still hold a place in my heart, I do enjoy his newer content. The variety of topics he riffs on is quite refreshing, and the way they're all put together makes it worth the long waits between his uploads. Always feels like a treat seeing a new JT video in my sub feed.

"However, people on twitter still responded to it angrily."

4:52 If anyone has a screenshot of this tweet when it was made, Jon had a profile pic with a big grin and a silly golfer’s hat. It made the tweet 10x more hilarious.

Truth is nowadays, the more "cancelled" you are by Twitter, the better some people will think of you.

I feel like Jon wanted to hop onto the online political sphere because it interested him, but he was clearly unprepared for legitimate debate and was incredibly uneducated about these topics. Destiny himself said he didn't think Jon was necessarily racist or alt-right but instead was just regurgitating chan board talking points and qualifying that as enough research to delve into a debate. I do respect that JonTron, after admitting how he fucked up on the H3 Podcast, immediately dipped out of politics, managed to salvage his career, and hasn't made this same mistake again (aside from a tweet about Fauci but it wasn't as serious as the shit he was saying on Destiny's stream). I don't subscribe to the "JonTron is a racist nazi" crowd because I need him to go full Fuentes and continuously double-down on his opinions when he gets proven wrong. I do believe people can change for the better and I haven't really seen enough evidence to show that he hasn't.

I miss old JonTron. I think his peak of videos was like 2013-2016 (basically from Nightshade/Space Ace up to the Christmas with the Kranks review). At least those are the ones I love a lot and binge rewatch

You want to know why Jon came out of this unscathed? His fans don't give a shit about personal politics, they just wanted funny videos and he delivered.

Do a video on the downward spiral of the spoonyone . I feel like he’s 1 creator that would still have an audience if he actually made content gain and if he never went crazy/lazy quitting he’d be 1 of the biggest creators or have branched off into bigger ventures with his success.

JonTron's crazy story probably taught him a valuable lesson regarding who and what you're getting yourself involved with. Plus, he really did live to Nietzsche's credo on what doesn't kill you, makes you stronger!

Regarding future Internet Mysteries subjects, Art, may I suggest you cover the story of the speedrunning bank robbers, AKA, The Stopwatch Gang, a trio of Canadian bank robbers that became quite well-known in the 80s for robbing banks in the US by doing it in 90 seconds or less, with a stopwatch by their side to mark the time, hence their name, without shooting a single bullet.
