Most journalists will agree that the previous generation Escape was definitely getting rather long in the tooth... Especially when considering the fact that the previous generation was in production for nearly 8 years (2013-2019). Simply put, Ford knew that they had to give the #FordEscape a complete redesign in order for it to remain competitive in the rapidly improving compact utility vehicle segment.

The 2020 model year not only marks the debut of an 4th gen Escape, but it also marks the resurrection of the Ford Escape Hybrid! In fact, the last time an Escape Hybrid rolled off an assembly line was back in 2013.

After being on an 8-year hiatus, the Escape Hybrid nameplate is making a FUEL-SIPPING new comeback and is ready to reel in more sales for the Ford brand as a whole. After all, the Crossover SUV segment is flourishing in North America, so it comes as no surprise that Ford is trying their best to obtain a LARGER portion of SUV sales in the United States.

For 2020, Ford believes more options is BETTER. Therefore, they're offering a total of 4 powertrains. But is that enough?

So, did Ford equip the 2021 Escape with enough features, practicality, and curb appeal to STRONGLY compete against other Compact Utility Vehicles? There's only one way to find out! Enjoy this in-depth #Pros and #Cons countdown review.

FUN FACT: The Escape Hybrid was the FIRST-EVER hybrid SUV when it first debuted back in 2005.

In my opinion the diamond door design needs to go.
The tech panel needs to be integrated into the dash and the dash needs a nonskid cubby.

I just got the 2021 Ford Escape titanium and it has the check back seat passenger alert system when you turn the car off.

Good review Marcus. Is your favourite colour blue? (Your clothes and car are blue. 🙂). Your videography is outstanding - great sound and you nail the lighting. Nice to see what others think of the new Escape. I have a 2017 and love it. Thanks for taking the time to do the review for us.

I have a new 2020 Escape and it has a rear occupant alert system. My car came with is turned on and it was quite a bit of going through menus to turn it off.

Great review Marcus. I am thinking of buying an Escape next year and your videos are swaying me in that direction. Since I also live in South Florida, I wish it did come with cooling seats. I will probably never use the heated seats here.

My 2020 has a rear occupant alert system. You have to enable and disable it in the sync 3 screen.

Marcus, I am very impressed with the quality of your video and your ability to communicate clearly. As a teacher, I find these qualities very commendable. You bring youth and energy to your presentation and this is important because most of the reviewers that I have followed are older and white like me and I truly appreciate your angle on the Escape. I agree with almost all of your likes and dislikes of the Escape as my 2020 is set to be delivered in the next few days. One thing that I thought you would pick on a little more is the Escape's lack of wireless charging up front like they have in the Baby Bronco and I ordered the Titanium trim and even at that price you have to plug in your cell phone. Not a huge issue, but in 2020-21, you would think that would become more standard. Kevin O

Great work! This really kept my attention because I couldn't wait to see what was next! I'm with you on the headlight situation... any new car costing over 20k and halogen bulbs seems crazy nowadays! Ford will hopefully fix that with the refresh in a few years. Keep up the great work man!
