Hit the P770 at my Titleist Performance Center and was so impressed with feel & trajectories, I ordered a set- should be in next week according to my fitter. I am a 72 year old life-long forged club player with handicap of 6. Really look forward to the club's arrival. Will replace my Cally Apex irons which are two years old and have allowed me to shoot my age twice now.

Did my own head to head with these two irons. I felt the ap2 wasn't as soft feeling at the p770's. I really like them both but I prefer the more stripped down look and feel of the 770's. so I ordered them yesterday and cannot wait to game them! Love the 750s but just don't have the swing for those, maybe someday. Great review! thanks for the info.

Just bought the Taylormade P770's and I did prefer them over the AP2's but there wasn't much in it. You won't go wrong with either of these sets.

Both are fantastic clubs, been playing a combination of ap2 714 and 716 (lost a few clubs long story) and the super at our course has the taylormade. Struck the TM irons a few times and found that they are quite comparable. The taylormade felt springy and long. My ap2's hit the same distance every time, could be a lot to do with the titleist being my fitted clubs but as far as feeling goes the ap2's were a bit nicer too.

Hi Michael, great review. I recently got a set of 716 AP2´s with DG XP115 R300, they feel great, they just play much shorter (10 yards aprox) than my previous irons (TM MC 2011 with DG XP R300). I emailed true temper to decide which shaft I needed given that the DG XP R300 is not produced anymore, they recommended the DG XP 115, as the most similar one to the one I previously played. Do you think my loss in distance is more related to the shafts? Or do the AP2´s just play shorter? They´re both set to the same lofts.

Mike are the z765 still in the bag? Thought you were a srixon player but has that since changed? As others have posted would be great to see these against srixon's offerings once you get your hands back on the srixon's. You have hit them.before though could you recall how they felt versus these?

That last shot with the AP2 really caused an issue for your reading or comparison. 161yds last shot....big drop off from 168/170 average. If you had hit that last AP2 as per your other shots of say 168yds - your average carry distance would have been 168, 8 rounded off to 169. Identical to the Taylormade.

Great reviews much appreciated Currently playing RSi 1 want to upgrade as game is progressing tested the M1 nice and long then the P770 very nice feel and very consistent numbers but distance down between 10 to 12 handicap swing speed 77 to 80 what would you suggest looking to make the best decision

7 iron P770 avg 6000 carry distance 145 M1 avg 5200 carry 155 to 160 understand the spin getting the height on the M1 going to come down to feel as you have suggested in your reviews Thanks for your reply
