Look what happened to this Forgotten Edam Cheese...
Well, I smoked it and then forgot about it for 2 months while I filled up on christmas food. And hey presto, A mystery package appears at the back of the fridge. Is it a rock?? no its a block of dried cold smoked edam cheese. There was no way I was going to throw this edam cheese away so I looked at the options. Cheese on toast was the winner and what could be better than Marmite and cheese on toast. Not only did it taste great it gave me the idea that this dried edam cheese would make a great mild parmesan cheese substitute. Much milder but behaved in the same way under the grill. I hope you like the video.

My mum used to place a whole edam in a non refrigerated cool box under the stairs in the winter and let it ''mature'', I forget how long she used to leave it for, but it was one of the best cheeses I have ever tasted in my life. It would only last a few days in my house once it was ready 😁

i have a leftover edam, i bought it a few years ago, maybe 3 years ago, i put it in the fridge and forgot it, now it's hard like rock lol, that's why i search this video to find out if it's still edible or not. someone help me please, i just don't wanna get food poisoned but i also don't wanna waste the food if it's save to be eaten.

You probably shouldn't smoke cheeses. It can cause serious respiratory problems. Try a cheese patch.
(It may also have bad effects on your memory).

Do you vacuum pack cheese after smoking ? I’ve read it helps keep things fresh but looks like you’ve found a new way by making a mistake and leaving it to dry out.

I did not know this cheese before till today when I was given one and it was covered with wax😂
