I didn’t know about the new Chords & Phrases feature in Kontakt 8, so it was a really nice surprise when I launched it for the 1st time. I suffer greatly with writing Chords & Melodies and my knowledge of Music Theory is limited to the C Major Scale & Octaves so this I think is REALLY gonna help me finally to create! It’s FREE too and that makes me even happier!!

It's crazy that the Chrods tool AND Leap are in the Kontakt 8 Player!!!

Putting Leap in the Kontakt player is smart from a business standpoint. You can sell the expansions to people who don't want to buy the full Kontakt. I think this is really the future for plugin companies in general

OK, the update on my situation is they told me that more than likely customs took the unit out the box and I guess they are saying that customs must’ve messed around with it enough to make the bottom rubber feet look worn remove the plastic film off the display glass and left a worn mark on the upper left-hand corner. They stated in the email thanks for informing them of this.

I'm not quite sure why you can't download the Kontakt 8 Player. I've got full Kontakt 7, but when I updated Native Access yesterday, I noticed that Kontakt 8 Player is now included. And yes it does include the new tools, plus most of my sample libraries still load in the free player so I've been having a play with chords and phrases. I haven't tried leap yet.

I really haven't got the finances to upgrade to full Komplete 15 but I will get the Kontakt 8 player for the extra tools and to maintain compatibility with newer player ready plugins.

Interesting to note that the upgrade from Kontakt 7 to 8 is $99 but includes a $99 VOUCHER for a Kontakt instrument of your choice. Didn't look yet to see what you can actually get for that amount but maybe it will take a little sting off the upgrade cost.

I got a question. Am I able to use the Chords tool with other vst's? I know i can grab the midi files and just drop it onto the other vst's midi track but id would be amazing if i could use the new tool like a controller for other third party instruments.

Ya, I am giving it a hard pass, as I have been working towards moving away from the NI ecosystem. I do own Komplete 14 Standard. Got rid of my older MK2 keyboard, replaced with a Push, with no plans for MK3. I already have more Izotope than I actually use these days with Suite. With NI trying to take over the world, I think they are missing out on what their user base is saying... fan boys will disagree and that is fine. Thanks for bringing up Kontakt 8 Player - It did not show as a new app to install, in Native Access... had to click on Applications and then scroll down to click on Install.
